‘getting better in the back room’ analyzes the automatization of traditionally assigned feminine mental, emotional, and physical labor through (machine) performance and an interactive viewing experience. An electric massage bed is used as a viewing station for a therapeutic video.

The installation exhibits how consoling, emotional support, and empathy are justified forms of traditionally overlooked labor performed by women.
